It can be hard to imagine that anyone would deliberately want to harm an elderly person, but unfortunately, elder abuse does occur. Some instances of elder abuse are intended to exploit the person financially; you’ve probably heard of scams targeting seniors. In other cases, caretakers simply don’t provide the basic necessities, like nutritious food, appropriate medication, safety, or assistance with hygiene. I am finding this to be a big concern for Callaway County residents. I have talked to dozens of residents who are confused and have questions. I have seen the letters and heard concerns. I am offering to sit in an appeal and see what is happening. I have seen local farmers lose their Agriculture land thus increasing their taxes. I have talked to man who bought his house 5 years ago and has had his taxes increased dated back to 1996 after he bought his property. As a resident of Callaway County I too am concerned about this sudden tax increase.....or error by Callaway County Assessor Jody Paschal. Continue reading
Today is Thursday 6/7/2018 and I am continuing on my door to door campaigning. I have almost knocked on 1,000 doors. I will be out between 4-8 today. I will be on State Road D in Williamsburg all the way to Portland. If you see me stop and say HELLO. I have business cards, magnets, pocket constitutions, and voter registration forms. I come from a military family. I am a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment. My grandfather, in spite of only a 3rd grade education, was a WWII decorated Veteran who fought in Normandy on D-day and was awarded a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, a Combat Medical Badge, and a Purple Heart. My father and Uncle were in the Army and my sister-in-law is also an Army Veteran. I am extremely proud of my family's military service. Continue reading
March 21st 2018 I had an amazing opportunity to tour Ameren Missouri nuclear power plant. I learned so much. Thanks to Anne Roselius, I had the privilege of attending on elected official day. It was a pretty big turn out. We started with introductions. Followed by, a delicious lunch provided by a local company called Crushed Red in Columbia.
